Reading Therapy for Depression

This therapy, also known as bibliotherapy, is used along with other treatments. The patient improves his/her confidence by reading motivational books.

Self help books and books on depression are also a part of the treatment. The chances of a patient improving are high, when this therapy is used effectively with psychotherapy and medications. The new ideas and suggestions that the patient gets from the books allow the patient to look at life from a larger point of view.

Reading therapy alone is also effective in mild depression. While reading it is better to avoid books that have negative influence. Your therapist might be able to suggest the right book for you.
