Hormone Therapy

This is a new method of treatment and is ideal for patients who do not respond to antidepressants. Dr Andrew Herzog of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston has had success with hormone therapy in women who were depressed due to imbalances of estrogen and progesterone in their brains.

Since this is a new form of treatment, it is better to take advice from professionals in the field before opting for the treatment. Patients should also undergo a hormone profile under the guidance of a neuroendocrinologist. Nothing much is known about the side effects of hormone therapy.
